Technician Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026 · Binding on Technician / Service Provider accounts on Maurya Service

Privacy for Service Providers: This notice explains how Maurya Service handles your data as a Technician. It supplements our Platform Privacy Policy and works together with the Technician Terms & Conditions, including your duties when you receive customer personal data on a job.

1. Scope & who we are

Maurya Service (“we”, “us”, “Platform”) operates a marketplace connecting customers with independent Technicians for home services and repairs across India.

This Technician Privacy Policy applies to individuals and businesses who register or work as a Service Provider / Technician on our website, PWA, partner app, or dashboard. If you are a customer, see our Platform Privacy Policy and Customer Privacy notice instead.

2. Information we collect about you

We collect the following categories of Technician data, directly from you or through verification partners:

  • Address proof, emergency contact, and digital copies of documents uploaded during onboarding or re-verification.
  • Background-check results and verification status from authorised third-party providers (where enabled).

  • Trade skills, service categories, experience, certifications, licence numbers, languages spoken, and profile bio.
  • Portfolio photos, training completion records, and ratings/reviews from customers.

  • Registered base location, service radius, pin codes covered, and manual area selections.
  • Live or periodic location when you are online, en route, or performing a job — used for assignment, ETA, safety, and dispute investigation (with app permissions).
  • Availability schedule, online/offline status, and device push tokens for job alerts.

Job history & performance

  • Jobs offered, accepted, declined, cancelled, started, and completed; timestamps; quotes; parts added; photos; OTP/completion proofs.
  • Customer feedback, complaint tickets, penalty records, and internal quality scores.
  • Call/SMS metadata through Platform masked numbers (content may be restricted by telecom and privacy rules).

Payout & financial

  • Bank account holder name, account number, IFSC, UPI VPA, or other payout instruments you register.
  • GSTIN, business entity details, and tax-related declarations if you operate as a business.
  • Settlement statements, commissions, incentives, tips (if enabled), chargebacks, and wallet balances.

Device & usage

  • Mobile device model, OS, app version, IP address, crash logs, and in-app actions needed for security and fraud prevention.
  • Cookies or local storage on web dashboards for session login and preferences.

3. How we use your information

We use Technician personal data for the following purposes (lawful bases may include contract performance, legal obligation, legitimate interests, and consent where required under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP”) and other applicable law):

  • Onboarding & KYC: verify identity, prevent fraud, and approve or reject Technician accounts.
  • Job matching: show you relevant bookings based on location, skills, ratings, and availability.
  • Service delivery support: enable navigation, customer contact via masked numbers, status updates, and proof-of-service workflows.
  • Payments: calculate earnings, process settlements to your bank/UPI, and maintain accounting records.
  • Quality & safety: monitor SLAs, investigate complaints, enforce Technician Terms, and protect customers and the Platform.
  • Communications: send transactional SMS, push notifications, email (job alerts, policy updates, payout notices).
  • Improvement & analytics: understand demand patterns, fix bugs, and develop features (often using aggregated or de-identified data).
  • Legal compliance: respond to lawful requests, tax/GST obligations, and court orders.
  • Marketing about the Platform: optional messages about incentives, training, or partner programmes — you may opt out of non-essential marketing where channels allow.

4. Sharing with customers & other parties

We share your information only as needed:

With customers (for assigned jobs)

  • Name and phone number (often via masked calling) so the customer can coordinate your visit.
  • Profile photo, rating, skills, ETA, and live location only during active job stages where the product shows tracking.
  • We do not share your full KYC documents, personal address, bank details, or government ID numbers with customers.

With service providers & authorities

  • Verification vendors — for KYC and background checks under contract.
  • Payment partners (e.g. Razorpay) — to route customer payments and your settlements.
  • Cloud hosting, SMS, maps, analytics — as processors with confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal & regulatory bodies — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and fraud victims.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not allow customers or third parties to download bulk Technician contact lists.

5. Your duties regarding customer PII

When you accept a job, you may receive customer personal data (name, phone, address, appliance details, photos). You act as a data recipient for job fulfilment and must:

  • Use customer PII only to perform and support that booking through Platform channels — not for marketing, resale, or off-platform solicitation (see non-solicitation rules in Technician Terms).
  • Not store customer phone numbers in personal contact lists, CRMs, or cloud notes unless the Platform explicitly permits export for a specific support case.
  • Protect customer data on your device; do not share it with unauthorised helpers or subcontractors.
  • Delete or return incidental copies (e.g. photos saved locally for upload) after the job unless retention is required for warranty, tax, or an open dispute.
  • Report suspected data breaches (lost phone, leaked chats) to us immediately at infomauryaservice@gmail.com.

Violation of these duties may lead to account suspension, contractual penalties, and reporting to authorities where required.

6. Data retention

We retain Technician data for as long as your account is active and thereafter as needed for:

  • Legal, tax, and accounting requirements (e.g. payout records, GST invoices);
  • Dispute resolution, fraud investigation, and enforcement of agreements;
  • Legitimate business archives in de-identified or aggregated form.

Typical retention guidelines (subject to law and active disputes):

  • KYC documents: for the account lifetime + statutory period (often 5–8 years for financial/KYC records where applicable).
  • Job history & proofs: at least the warranty / complaint limitation period relevant to the service category.
  • Location logs: limited retention aligned to operational need (e.g. 90–180 days for detailed traces unless a case requires longer hold).
  • Bank details: until you update/remove them and pending settlements complete; masked references may remain in historical statements.

After retention periods, we delete or anonymise data where feasible.

7. Security

  • We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures (access controls, encryption in transit where supported, secure hosting, staff training).
  • Payout changes may require re-verification or cooling-off periods to reduce fraud.
  • No system is completely secure. You must use strong passwords, enable device locks, and avoid sharing OTPs or dashboard access.

8. Your rights under DPDP (India)

Subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and rules thereunder (as implemented), and other applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access a summary of personal data we process and identities of processors where required;
  • Correction / updating of inaccurate or incomplete profile, KYC, or payout information;
  • Erasure when data is no longer necessary and no legal exception applies (note: we may retain KYC and transaction records where mandated);
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g. marketing), without affecting prior lawful processing;
  • Nominate another individual to exercise rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity, as permitted by law;
  • Grievance redressal through our contact channel below.

To exercise rights, email us from your registered address with subject “Technician Privacy Request — [phone / ID]”. We may verify identity before acting. We will respond within timelines prescribed by applicable law.

9. Grievance & contact

For privacy questions, correction requests, data breaches, or complaints about how we process Technician information, contact our grievance / support channel:

Please include your registered mobile number, Technician ID (if known), and a clear description of the request. We aim to acknowledge grievances promptly and resolve them within reasonable timelines under DPDP and consumer protection norms.

If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may have the right to escalate to the Data Protection Board of India or other competent authority once fully operational and applicable to your case.

10. Changes & related documents

We may update this Technician Privacy Policy to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or new data uses. The “Last updated” date on this page will change. Material updates may be notified via app, SMS, or email. Continued use of the Technician account after the effective date means you accept the revised policy.
